Who am I?

My name is Dr. Ilana Ferreira. I have my doctorate in rehabilitation science from the University of Toronto. I am a kinesiologist with the College of Kinesiologist of Ontario and a personal training specialist through CanFitPro. I studied Human Kinetics at the University of Guelph and Kinesiology at the University of Manitoba.

I will create your personalized plan that targets your goals and lifestyle. I will then take you through the plan exercise by exercise in-person at your home/condo gym or a gym location near you. My expertise in muscle building and injury prevention allow me to modify exercises and adapt the workout to match how your body moves.

Step 4: Re-assess and iterate. 

You are always evolving and growing and your goals will too. Your fitness plan should keep up. With a WISE plan, it will always stay personalized to you as you move through life. I will measure your progress, reassess your movements and iterate your plan as needed.

My story

My fitness journey kicked off when I started playing basketball at 8 years old. Playing through high school and on competitive teams, I encountered my share of ankle injuries that led me into the world of physiotherapy.

While pursuing my undergraduate degree in Human Kinetics, I got into weightlifting. I learned a lot about the body, but I also realized there's so much we don't know yet. My thesis, focusing on balance and gait, set me on a path of passionate research.

This path led me through a master’s degree and culminated in a doctorate, fueled by an insatiable curiosity for the research process. Simultaneously, I began recognizing the immense benefits of physical activity—not merely in the academic realm but in its capacity to foster adventure, strengthen bonds with friends and family, and bring boundless energy into daily life.

I started hearing bad advice that fitness coaches were giving my friends and family that culminated in an injury or a barrier that prevented them from reaching their goals. This frustrated me as I knew I could help them.

Personal training emerged as the perfect fusion of my in-depth understanding of the human body and my desire to empower others to realize their full potential. I love sharing my passion for being active and hope to spark that same excitement in everyone I work with.
